Silver Frith (B.Sc. Biology)
Co-Director and Senior AYTT Trainer

Silver was drawn to yoga in the early 1970’s because of the advertised claim that the practice would bring health and peace. There were no certified yoga instructors in the area, so she began to practice from books and became immediately fascinated with the depth of self inquiry that resulted.

She committed to a daily practice, and continued to read, study and attempt to apply the principles in her daily life. During this time she also explored the work of Krishnamurti.

Silver Frith

After 10 years of solitary practice, Silver was asked by her community to share her knowledge and experience of yoga.

The students’ responses, and her deep enjoyment of the teaching process, led her to begin studies at Kripalu Centre in 1988, receiving Certification as Holistic Health Educator (1988), Kripalu Yoga Instructor (1989), and Advanced Kripalu Yoga Teacher (1990).

From 1988 until 1994, her training continued through assisting on the teaching team in many programs at Kripalu Center, leading guest yoga classes, and working as a Karma Yogi.

In 1992, she was mentored by Senior Kripalu Yoga Instructor, Sudhakar Ken MacRae. She was Certified as a Professional Level (500 hour) Kripalu Yoga Instructor in 2000.

Silver founded Body.Mind.Energy: Holistic Services in 1988, and has since offered classes, workshops and retreats in the Maritime region and in her home province of Saskatchewan, as well as serving a private clientele.

Jody Myers and Silver Frith

A long-time singer/songwriter, she was introduced to Mantra Chanting at Kripalu Center in 1988, and has offered evenings of chanting and yoga regularly for over 20 years.

Silver continues her studies through workshops with visiting Kripalu Yoga Instructors, as well as taking Intensives at the Yasodhara Ashram in B.C., founded by Swami Sivananda Radha. She experiences the practices at Yasodhara, to be a wonderful complement to the Kripalu approach.

Silver is also a visual artist in the media of photography, drawing and painting, has a Diploma from the Holland College School of Visual Arts, and has studied at NSCAD University in Halifax.

In 1994 she received Certification in Ayurvedic Studies, Level 3, from Dr. Vasant Lad of the Ayurvedic Institute, New Mexico.

She ran a series of Developmental Yoga retreats covering a broad range of topics, at the Tatamagouche Centre in the late 1990’s, and joined Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training as Co Director in 2002.
