Kripalu Yoga is a very open and flexible system. It is sometimes known as ‘the yoga of devotion' or ‘meditation-in-motion'.
It has the intention of awakening 'awareness' through a beautiful balance of effort and relaxation, of yin and yang.
Yogi Amrit Desai spent more than 20 years working with a skilled cadre of teachers and a large community of practitioners, to develop Kripalu Yoga into an effective approach to enter meditation-in-motion.
"When body breath and awareness are aligned, a certain kind of magic happens. Distraction falls away and all of you comes together into a greater whole. The posture not only stretches you in just the right place, it teaches you something about yourself.
- Yoganand Michael Carol
Kripalu yoga is a natural yoga practice which heals and integrates the body and mind, develops awareness and awakens the heart.
"The uniqueness of Kripalu Yoga is that postures, pranayama, introversion, concentration and meditation are all happening simultaneously. In the beginning stages, postures are primary and other aspects secondary. As you progress, meditation becomes the primary experience."
- Swami Kripalu
